Status effects can come from various sources, such as Skills, other Status effects,  Duo/ Harmonized skills,  Emblem Effects, Divine Veins, Captain Skills, items, or structures. There are currently 114 status effects in the game, which are split into 【Bonus】 effects and 【Penalty】 effects. Status effects either affect the player's units or enemy units. Effects such as  Atk Liberate,  Spd Shackle, and  Empathy have effects that work based on how many status effects are active on the targeted unit(s). 【Bonus】 effects (also known as positive status effects or Beneficial Effects^[2]) last until the next start of player phase. If they are acquired during the enemy phase, they will disappear when the next player phase begins. 【Bonus】 effects can be copied by skills such as  Conquering Fate or  Ethereal Gungnir. All 【Bonus】 effects can be removed by Sources of Bonus effect removal such as  Thief and  Divine Deceit.

【Penalty】 effects (also known as negative status effects or Detrimental Effects^[2]) are defined as^[3][4] status effects on a unit that last until that unit takes an action. If the unit takes multiple actions in a turn, they will only have the negative status effect for their first action. All 【Penalty】 effects can be removed by Sources of Penalty effect removal such as  Paranoia and  Odd Recovery 3.
